Mustered in 07 May 1898, Mt Gretna Pa. Honorably discharged August 1899 at the Presidio, California. Served in the Phillipines June 1898 to July 1899. Received a pension from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for his military service. Date of application February 01, 1934. Application # 00596. (Military Affairs, Pennsylvania Dept. of. Spanish American War Veterans Compensation File). On microfilm in State Archives, Harrisburg, PA. Obituary found in Washington (PA) Observer, June 20, 1959 edition, p. 2. States he was living in a Veterans Adminstration Home in Thomasville Georgia. Was enroute on a bus from there to visit family and died in Lexington Kentucky at 3:30 P.M. on Friday, June 19, 1959. Obituary also states that he had worked for Lincoln Hill Coal Company and Midland Coal Company; also a member of the F. and A.M Lodge, Burgettstown, PA and the Spanish-American War Veterans Post, Pittsburgh, PA. Obituary states that he lived in Washington, PA from 1921 to 1931. Above obituary states that he was survived by ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. My aunt Esther Reese states that Albert was quite a wanderer and would travel around the country, sending postcards from all of the places that he had been.
