      Note: Robert Dale Evans, 82, of 16268 S. Shady Acres, Meadville, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at Meadville Medical Center.Bob was born in Connellsville, June 14, 1926, a son of the late William and Minnie Russell Evans. On Sept. 20, 1954, Robert married Ethel M. Furno; she preceded him in death Jan. 23, 2009.Bob retired from the former Talon Inc. of Meadville, where he had been employed for 38 years. Following his retirement, he worked for Plaza Laundry for 23 years. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Bob entered active duty Sept. 28, 1944, and served his country until his honorable discharge, March 18, 1946. During that time he was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.A big sports fan, Bob loved watching all sports, especially football, on television. He enjoyed horse racing at various race tracks and will be remembered for telling jokes. His favorite pastime was walking his dog, Rambo, that he loved dearly, several times a day.Bob is survived by a stepdaughter, Rose McLain, and a stepson, Anthony Pero and his wife, Cathy, all of Meadville; four grandchildren, A.J. Pero of Las Vegas, Nev., Pamela Small and her husband, Craig, of New Hampshire, Michael Pero and his wife, Carol, of Meadville, and Kelly Cervone and her husband, James, of Trafford; seven great-grandchildren, Justin Runbaugh of Texas, Domenic, Vincent and Anthony Cervone of Trafford, and Roman, Ryan and Reese Pero of Meadville; two sisters, Eulalia Reichel of Rolling Fields, and Ruth Mitchell of Philadelphia; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his wife, Ethel, of 54 years, and his parents, William and Minnie Russell Evans, Bob was preceded in death by a brother, William Evans.Family and Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, Meadville, at 1 p.m. Saturday, for both Bob and his wife, Ethel Evans, who passed away Jan. 23, 2009, with Father Richard J. Toohey, pastor, officiating.Following interment in St. Brigid Cemetery, relatives and friends are invited to join the family at St. Mary of Grace Center for lunch.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary of Grace Church, 1085 Water St. Meadville, Pa. 16335.Arrangements are under the direction of Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
