Robert Todd was born 2 Feb 1821 in Greenoch, Scotland. He immigrated in 1833 to Chicago, IL. He died in 1907 in Dundee, IL. He was buried in 1907 in West Dundee Cemetery, Dundee, Kane Co., IL. In 1835, he moved to Dundee, IL. In the gold rush of 1849, he went to California and stayed three years, came back and bought 80 acres of land at $1.25 per acre 3 miles northwest of Dundee. Another source states that he was born in Townhead, Lanark, Scotland. He married Grace Crichton on 3 Jul 1848 in Dundee, IL. Grace Crichton was born on 27 Jan 1827 in Airdrie, Old Monkhead Parish, Scotland. She died on 19 Dec 1914 in Dundee, IL. She was buried in West Dundee Cemetery, Dundee, IL. Her birth was recorded as Grace John Chrichton. They had the following children:
1. James Todd, born 5 Jun 1849, Dundee, IL; died 27 Aug 1928, Dundee, IL; buried about 30 Aug 1928, East Dundee Cemetery, Dundee, IL.
