Chandler married Martha Goddard in 1949 and practiced law in Shreveport. He became a judge and ran for State Senate in 1939."

    Lala, Mrs. Means, my Father's sister has been with us for several days. Her son, Hal, is in New Guinea. Lala is getting quite old; she is several years older than father would be if he were alive now. Hal, her only child is quite the apple of her eye and it makes no difference that he is 40 she still wants to see him and worries over him a great deal.

    Henry counting my father as a Chandler is the seventh consecutive generation to have been in some sort of war in this peaceful country of ours. There were three Chandler generations in the Revolution: Joel, Shadrack and, I believe, William. Another William, a typical frontiersman was in the Creek, Seminole, 1812, and Mexican wars finally getting as far West as Arkansas which he left after the Civil War to return to my Grandfather's home. My grandfather was in the Civil War. My Father in the First World War and Henry in this one.
