Many notes about Richard Lippincott and his Lippincott descendants come from notes by my sister, Rosalie Woodson Collins 1988 [=RWCollins].

[RWCollins]: emigrated from Devonshire, England about 1639-1640, and was a Freeman in the General Court of Boston. He settled in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. He was likely a Puritan at this time. However, records of the First Church of Boston indicate that around 1651 he was excommunicated from the church. Not long after this he returned to England with his family, and began being influenced by the Quakers. He was subsequently imprisoned for a while because of his Quaker views (in Plymouth, Devonshire). The main point of offense was that Quakers refuse to swear any oaths at all, and the current government regarded them as treasonous because of this. The Rhode Island Colony offered freedom of worship to Quakers, so Richard again returned to America. Shortly thereafter he became a member of the first English colony in New Jersey, in which he was the largest shareholder. This was in Shrewsbury, NJ, about 1665.

[RWCollins]: Eight children, two (Abigail and Preserved) dying in infancy.

(This is now a part of Boston, MA) where he had a house and garden on east side of what is now Washington St., from Milk St., to Bedford Ct.; Excommunicated from 1st Church for failing to attend communion. Persecutions followed, which led him to return to Eng. in 1653 - Stonehurst, Plymouth, Devonshire. Became a Quaker and suffered great persecution again. 1661 to America again to Newport, RI; 1665 joined Land Assoc. of Friends which purchased what later became Monmouth Co., NJ. 1669 settled Shrewsbury, Monmouth Co., NJ where he died.
