    Valedictorian, second in class of 50, Cranford High School, June 1929. Received gold coins as prizes for best records in Chemistry and Mathematics. Construction projects during high school: electric combination lock, operating model of traffic light, electric arc stoplight. B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 1933 (top 5% of class, member of Honors Group in Electrical Engineering). Studied violin and piano, Member and conductor of MIT Instrumental Club, a 25-piece concert orchestra. Honors projects: temperature dependence of dielectric constants of various insulators; analysis of hydraulic distribution systems by analogy with electrical networks.

    Graduated college in the depths of the Depression. Early work experience: rod-man on survey team, piloting fishing boat, drafting work for Public Service Electric Co.

    Employed as chief engineer of Carleton Lamp Company (later Hudson Lamp Company), Kearny, NJ, makers of light bulbs for Christmas trees (including Noma bubble lights), and automotive brake lights and directional indicator lights. Memberships: American Institute of Electrical Engineers, Society of Automotive Engineers.

    Jack of all trades around the house. Constructed a 9-inch television in 1950, complete with wired remote control situated at the other end of the living room. Enjoyed working with his hands around the house.

    Was generally considered a bit introverted and very bright. Died of melanoma cancer after brief illness at age of 46 in 1959.++.
