    DEATH OF MRS. ANNA MAPLES

Miss Anna Katherine Tate was born in Tenn. Sept. 11, 1830, and died at Alpena Pass, Ar. Feb. 21, 1925.

Her parents moved to Arkansas in her early childhood, and located near Huntsville, in Madison County. She professed faith in Christ at an early age, 12 years, joined the Methodist Church and lived faithful until death. She was joined in matrimony to Alfred Sloved in 1848 and to this union was born one child Mrs. Jane Boyd of Geraldine Montana. He preceded her in 1850. In 1854 she was married to James Maples, to this union was born ten children, six boys and four girls. Two of the boys and the fo (page torn) have gone on before. The four boys left are namely, Jesse Maple of Green Forest, J. S. Maples, B. C. Maples of Berryville and Clay Maples of Alpena, all are highly respected men that the country is proud to own.

On Feb. 1, at 1 p.m. God saw fit to call her home, to join her loved ones on that bright and happy shore, making her a ripe age of 94 years, 5 months and 10 days.

All who knew Grandma Maples from her childhood knew her only as a great Christian character. She had an unshakable faith in her Lord and she was always true to her church in every way. Her home was always the home of preachers of the Gospel. When she was forced by any cause to be absent from her pew at the Church she was greatly missed by her pastor and the congregation, as she was not only there to fill her accustomed place but was there with her prayers which were impressive and spiritual.

She was greatly missed when she no longer, on account of her declining health could attend the services and at the end of her long sufferings comes death. She died at the home of her son, Clay. After funeral services, which were conducted by the writer she was laid to rest in the Carrollton Cemetery by the side of her later husband who died March 8, 1897.

There's a vacant chair in the home, that never can be filled. but our loss is Heaven's gain for she has gone to rest.

By L. R. Ruble, Pastor of M.E. Church, Alpena Pass, Ark.
