I think Absalom Coxsey also had a son named George. In 1830, George Coxsey is listed on the census next to Absalom Coxsey. In 1850 there is a George Coxsey (b. abt 1801) and Nancy are in McMinn Co. TN and in 1860 he is in Miller Co. MO. In 1850, 1860 there is a George Abner Coxsey (b. abt 1822) and Martha in Georgia. In 1870, 1880 this George is in Polk Co. TN. George and Martha migrate to Navarro County, Texas where they are buried. One website has both of these George Coxseys as sons of Absalom, but that is not likely. If George b. 1801 is a son, Absalom was married before he married Elizabeth Maile, which is certainly possible.

Of the three Coxsey men, Absalom, John and George in McMinn Co. TN in 1830, Absalom is the only one that has a son over 10 years old, so that would help place John B. Coxsey as a son of Absalom. George and the older John might be Absalom's brothers or nephews. I do not think there would be two sons in the same family named John or George.

In 1850, John Coxey age 55 with wife Mary age 46 is in McMinn County. No children with them on this census, but on the page before is a Wm Coxsey age 21 and John Coxey age 14 living with Nancy Marshall age 30.

My GGGG grandfather is Isaac Bradley, b. 1772 in Tryon , NC. He was Married to Sarah Coxey, b. 1782 in Rutherford, NC. There is the possibility that both Isaac and Sarah where Native American, either Cherokee or Catawba. All their kids where born in Burke or Rutherford or Ashe, NC. Many of the next generation lived in Swain Co., TN.

What I know is that George Coxsey Born in N.C. married Nancy Murphy and in 1850 they were living in McMinn Ten. They had the following children,, Lucinda age 23, Caroline age 22, Sarah age 16 ( this is the one that was my ggggrandmother), John age 18, the next one I cant quite make out the name , it could be Annie, Minnie, Minda age 11, and Rachel Age 5.. There are several other Coxseys in McMinn at that time ,there is a John Coxey age 55, Ruthey Coxsey age 18 living with a family named Morris, and a William Coxsey age 21 and John Coxey age 14 and they are living with a lady named Nancy Marshall? There is a A. Coxsey who is 71 and John
B. Coxsey who is 34 in Polk Co. Ten . These two counties are adjoining so
I feel they are related but I cant figure it out.. I know that my George
Coxsey and some of his children moved to Miller Co. Mo.
