CORDOVA, MD. - Enoch Haywood "E.H." Forbes Sr. of Cordova died on Wednesday, August 30, 200 6 at Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was 80. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday a t 2 p.m. at Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, Bruceville. Burial will be private. Born Au gust 28, 1926 in Greenville, N.C., he was the son of the late Jesse Spry and Gladdie B. Forre st Forbes. After attending school in Greenville, he served in the U.S. Army until his honorab le discharge in 1945. He lived in various locations until moving to the Eastern Shore in 1959 . Mr. Forbes worked as a carpenter for most of his life, taking pride in his work and teachin g his trade to his sons and son-in-laws. On May 19, 1948 he married the former Virginia Nea l at Mentor on the Lake, Ohio. Mrs. Forbes died on March 15, 1994. He was a member of Faith C hapel United Methodist Church in Bruceville and American Legion Dorchester Post #91 in Cambri dge. Mr. Forbes loved to crab and be near the water. He had a great love for children. In add ition to their own children, Mr. and Mrs. Forbes raised two foster children. Mr. Forbes is su rvived by four daughters, Gervios Wooters and her husband, Floyd, of Cordova, Susan Watts an d her husband, Wayne, of Windy Hill, Judy Foster and her husband, Jimmy, of Trappe, and Denis e Pierce and her husband, Danny of Easton; a son, Marvin Forbes and his wife, Mary Ellen, o f Easton; two sisters, Mary Ann Strickland and Meredith Metje and her husband, Mitch, all o f Windy Hill; twelve grandchildren, Beth Dulin, John Watts, Floyd M. Wooters, Eric Foster, Sh errie Chambers, Hollie Fisher, Joey Foster, Jamie Forbes, Shannon Russell, Ryan Forbes, Jenni fer Forbes, and Jesse Forbes; three step-grandchildren, Karen, Daniel and Jessica; and ninete en great-grandchildren, with the 20th due in March. He is also survived by many very much lov ed nephews and nieces who knew him as Uncle H. in Maryland, Morehead City, N.C. and Florida ; and many extended family members who affectionately called him "Pop-Pop". He was preceded i n death by a son, Enoch "Woody" Forbes, Jr. and a sister, Jane Guthrie. Following the service , a reception will be held at the pavilion at the Easton Club.
