    ............................................ THE JOHN YARGER FAMILY 1773 .................................. ...................................... ..........................................

The first knowledge I have of the Yarger name is that he was one of the mercenaries sent by King George to fight against the American Colonists. On Christmas Eve 1776, Washington crossed the Delaware and captured a group of Hessian soldiers. Among them was our ancestor. What his name was I have not been able to find. John Yarger was borned Feb 26, 1773.
Some years later a number of Yarger's and Auker's lived in Huntington, Pennsylvania. On July 21, 1800, John Yarger married Elizabeth Auker.
In 1812 John Yarger and Elizabeth came to Ohio. They walked all the way, driving two pigs and leading a cow with their few belongings and utensils on her back and also carrying baby, Elizabeth. They arrived in Somerset, Ohio, at Fink's Tavern. For about a year they lived one room cabin where the old part of St Joseph's cemetery is located. He took up from the goverment a half-section of land in the present Clayton Township in Perry County.
This is out of the Yarger History Booklet ..Author S W Yarger.

Elizabeth Auker died May 21, 1819, whereupon John Yarger I took his second wife Margaret Auker,(sister, of his first wife Elizabeth?). This second marriage took place on July 21, 1821, but apparently produced no children. Margaret died May 17, 1841 again leaving John Yarger a widower for the second time. He lived on for another 13 1/2 years before passing away on December 20, 1854.

Found on the 1850 Census that John (77) was living alone with his daughter Elizabeth (39). Farmer..Value $3,000.
If this is correct this would mean John was borned 1773??
