1967 Feb. 22: Mrs. Dave Ewing
Mrs. Mabel Clare Ewing, 80, died at the Hammond Holiday Home, Larned, after a long illness. Born May 8, 1886 at Great Bend, she married Dave Ewing. He died in 1931. She had been a resident of Barton County all her life.
She was a member of First Methodist Church, the Women's Society of Christian Service, Gleaners Sunday School class, and was a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by sons, James, Middlesex, N. J., and Thaine, 1319 Sheridan; one daughter, Mrs. R. L. Hayworth, Valley Center; step-daughters, Mrs. Charles Dazey, Fort Collins, Colo., Mrs. Harlan White, Lathrop, Calif., Mrs. Ralph Christiansen and Mrs. Kenneth Carmichael, both of Great Bend; one brother, Orville Hays, Albert; sisters, Mrs. C. B. Haas, Brookside Manor, Overbrook, and Mrs. Hamilton Keener, Van Nuys, Calif., and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bryant and Fryberger Mortuary with the Rev. Franklyn Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Galatia. Friends may contribute to the Church memorial fund at the mortuary. --Great Bend (KS) Daily Tribune (Ancestry.com)
