Jim Burnett was a farmer and raised hogs, chickens, and cattle as well as tobacco. He also helped to build the Kentucky Dam.

Burnett, New Hope Rd., will celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Saturday, Nov. 26, with an open house at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Carl Osborne, on Clinton Rd. Friends and relatives are invited to call between the hours of two and five p.m.
Mr. and Mrs. Burnett were married November 22, 1905, at Mrs. Burnett's home in Lowes by the Rev. Watts. They are the parents of seven children...They also have 18 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.. All of the children are expected to be home for Thanksgiving.
Grandma and Grandpa's house burned down about 1953 and they lost all of their possessions, including Grandma's wedding ring. They lived in their root cellar while friends and relatives built the new house. At their 50th. Anniversary party, the grandson of Rev. Watts conducted the renewal of their vows with a new wedding ring that Grandpa had bought for Grandma.
