Observations.-The Uvedale family, settled at Tacolneston, N orfolk, appears in that co. from the beginning of the 13t h century. Sir Hugh de Uvedale was active in Norfolk, 1206- 07, and was to be restored to his lands there, as having co me into the King's faith and service, 28 October 1217. Will iam de Uvedale was to be released from captivity at Carrick fergus, 23 April 1215, and held 1½ acres in Thwaite, Norfol k, 1220-21. Hugh de Uvedale had interests in Tacolneston i n 1234-35, when he was a party to fines there with Richar d and Benedict de Uvedale and with Rainald de Uvedale. In 1 242-43 Rainald de Uvedale held ½ a knight's fee of Walter F itzRobert and John de Uvedale held ¼ knight's fee of the sa me lord, both in Tacolneston. John's wife (in 1249-50) wa s named Margaret. The relationship between Rainald and Joh n is not proved, nor is the connection between them and Hug h de Uvedalc, who was lord of Tacolneston in 1275 and 1286 .
