    !Obit. Sandusky Register: John B. (Fuzzy) Taylor, 76, former Erie Cnty. Sheriff residing at 3 34 E. Washington St. died unexpectedly Wed. afternoon at his home. Mr. Taylor graduated fro m the University of Applied Science, Chicago, where he studied the science of finger printing . He advanced through the ranks of the Sandusky police dept. and served as a captain under t he late Chief C.A. Weingates. Mr. Taylor was the first fingerprint expert in the police dept . and served as its first motorcycle patrolman. He was elected to two terms as Erie Cnty. Sh eriff,, being well remembered for his disaster work during the 1924 tornado that hit Sandusky .....During his days in the plicice and sheriff dept. the FBI was not in existence and finger print reports had to be sent to the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps and various state identifica tion bureaus in an effort to identify persons. In more recent years the FBI has built up it s fingerprint files so that millions of names are now available. After his terms as sheriff , he was deputy clerk of the Erie Cnty. Board of Election for a number of years. He was als o aprecict committeeman and active in Republican party affairs for many years. For a conside rable time he operated his own insurance agency at his home. He was a descendant of one of t he first families to settle in the Firelands Area. As a young man he played baseball with th e former Sandusky Toolmakers team... He was a member of the United Church of Christ and the E lks, Moose, Eagles and Maccabee lodges. His daughter Mrs. Beatrice Smith at home, a son Dr . Russell E. Taylor survive. 5 grandchildren, a sister Hettie Ohlemacher and a number of niec es and nephews......
