    Brother of Francisco. Career Calvary Officer - His military record shows that he entered the Regiment of the King's Lancers (Regimiento de Lanceros del Rey) as a "Distinguished Soldier" at the age of 14 on 2 Sept 1816. He was
    appointed Cadet by Decree on 6 Aug 1918, Ensign (Alferez) on 27 Dec 1822, Lieutenant (Teniente) on 23 May 1826, Captain on 1 June 1833, Adjudant (Ayudante) of the 1st Squadron on 1 Feb 1835 and Captain on 16 Mar 1837. He was posted to the cities of Habana and Trinidad. While at Trinidad he led several "pacification" missions. In 1841 he traveled with his regiment to Seville where he retired from active duty on 28 January 1842, at the age of 38. His commisions included several periods of teaching Cadets, appointment as Adjudant (Ayudante de la Plaza) of the City of Trinidad, where among other duties was to administer the retirement and invalid funds for officers, sargeants and soldiers in that city. He was appointed Adjudant of the arms commandancy for the areas outside the city walls of Habana. He was awarded the Cross of the Royal and Military Order of San Hermenegildo on 13 Dec 1841 by Royal Decree of Queen Isabella the Second. 5
