"I don't remember but little about your Father, (Azariah) when your grandfather, William Fowler Clark, left Bethany for Ohio, your father, (Azariah) was left with my father and when he was old enough to got to a trade he went to live with my brother Merritt, to learn the trade of wagon making, in Northfield, Litchfield, Co. Conn. While with my brother he had a gun burst in his hands and disfigured them some, probably he have heard the circumstances from him. I think I did not see him after he went to his trade. I heard he got uneasy and left my brother's suddenly. I don't remember whether he went to his Fathers or not the next we heard him was after he was married in Canada, there being something of a revolution there, and he being on the party that was beaten in the struggle , he had to flee the county, and as he was leaving, he perceived someone was following him & he turned around and fired at him, and he sees him no more, and got into the United States & afterwards send for his wife & she come to him and this information I received in a letter from your grandfather, William Fowler Clark. " (at the time of the letter, Aaron was 84 yrs old, the struggle mentioned in the letter may have been part of the MacZenie Rebellion)
