3. John Rizor, b abt 1786 in PA
4. Jacob Rizor, b abt 1786
5. Henry L. Rizor, b 28 Feb 1790 in Washington Co, PA.
Note: CRUMRINE's says that Jacob Rizor was the son-in-law of Jacob Leffler [b Abt 1750], but was he the son-in-law of the older Jacob, and brother-in-law of the Jacob who was married to Elizabeth Hewett????. . . THE DUTCH FORK SETTLEMENT of Donegal Township, Washington Co., Pennsylvania by Raymond Martin Bell states that ***ELIZABETH LEFFLER was married to Henry Rice and that they died and are buried in Corydon, Harrison Co., Indiana. The years of death, 1825 and 1831, seem to match with the marriage of Jacob and Elizabeth, as do some of the children's names. Henry Rice/Jacob Rizor?==================================
From CRUMRINE'sThe tract of four hundred acres named "Sylvia's Plain" in the survey, which was made Feb. 17, 1785, was granted to Jacob Lefler by a Virginia certificate, in which it was described as being adjoining lands of Jacob Rice (Reis) and Christopher Wygand, "in the county of Ohio, on Buffalo Creek, to include his [Lefler's] actual settlement made in the year 1774." AndJacob Rice's (Reis') tract of four hundred acres, surveyed to him by William Hoge, Sept. 21, 1785, as "Turkey's Nest," was taken up by him on a Virginia certificate granted in January, 1780. This tract has before been mentioned as adjoining the tract on which Jacob Lefler made a settlement in 1774. ===========================If this is true, who was the wife (and for that matter, the father) of our Jacob Rizor?? (The name Rizor is not mentioned in the Leffler portion of the Bell book. I understand that there is a section of the Bell Anthology on Jacob Rizor (Raysor), but I have not been able to get access to that chapter.) And I am unable to locate the source of the information that Jacob married ELIZABETH LEFFLER in my records. I just know that the information has been a part of my genealogy records for many years. Anyone with verification of the marriage of Jacob and Elizabeth, please contact me.***************From "Forts Of The Northern Panhandle of (W)VA": FORT RICE, Brooke Co, VA/WV This was a rectangular stockade having a block-house at one of its corners and several cabins within the enclosure. It was situated on Buffalo Creek,by the course of the stream twelve or fifteen miles from its mouth, near where Bethany College now stands in Brooke County. It was erected by Abraham and Daniel Rice, and it afforded protection to twelve families in times of hostilities. In September, 1782, a desperate attack was made upon it by one hundred Indians, who were dispatched to attack it after the siege of Fort Henry had been raised. This action at Fort Rice is among the most remarkable of the border wars. The reds attempted to storm the fort, and while there were but six people in the fort, they killed three Indians and wounded other the first fire. The siege lasted twelve house, then the Indians departed. George Felebaum [Philabaum] was killed in the beginning of the battle; the other five members of the heroic band were unhurt; They were Jacob Miller, George Lefler, Peter Fullenweider, Daniel Rice and JACOB LEFLER, JR. (husband of ELIZABETH LEFFLER).******************* About 1774 Philip Hewitt with wife Eva Mong, Peter Hewitt with wife Mary Leffler, and Elizabeth Hewitt with husband Jacob Leffler came to Washington County. Philip and Peter settled in Amwell Township, Jacob in Donegal Township. They had lived earlier in Berks County, Pennsylvania and Washington (then Frederick) County. Maryland. The two brothers and their brother-in-law got farms and raised families. Peter died in Amwell in 1802, Philip in Canton Township in 1823, and Elizabeth died at Corydon, Indiana a few months after Philip. ***ELIZABETH's second husband was Rev. (John) Casper Simler, a Reformed minister, who had migrated from Switzerland. On November 5-1791 he preached the first sermon to the newly organized congregation of Bethlehem Church. In 1795 Philip Hewitt was an elder of the church, Peter a deacon. Bethlehem Lutheran Church (originally Reformed and Lutheran) is located on a hilltop in North Bethlehem Township. It is south of Glyde and about 7 miles southeast of Washington. The congregation was organized in 1791 with the appointment of John Stauch as pastor. Confirmation records begin in 1791 (May), baptisms in 1792 (February). Adjoining the church is a cemetery dating back to the 1790s. The inscriptions, older ones in German, have been published in DUTCH GLORY. The deed for the church was made March 29-1788. A combined school and church house was erected. The first log church was completed in 1797. Another minister associated with Bethlehem Church was (John) George Pfrimmer, born in Alsace 1762, died in Corydon, Indiana 1825. He lived in South Strabane Township 1801-05. His son George was baptized at Dutch Glory August 2-1802. George, Sr., who later became a United Brethren minister, borrowed money from Peter Hewitt and bought items at the estate sale. Peter Hewitt's estate papers show that he had 2 farms and extensive personal property. His inventory tells how a farmer lived at the end of the 18th century."
