Teresa is living with her youngest son Joseph Thomas Newton and his wife Mary.

1901 OBITUARY - Mrs. Teresa Newton, better known as Grandma Newton, died at the home of her son Joseph Newton, at Empire, Kansas, Sunday, July 21, 1901, aged 82 years, 9 months and 16 days.
Teresa Worland was born in Scott County, Ky., October 5, 1818. At the age of nine years she moved to Shelby County, Indiana, where in 1840 she was united in marriage to D.K. newton. In 1872 she came to Kansas with her husband and until a few months ago when she went to Galena with her son, she made her home in or near this city. She was one of the best known women in this section in the early days and many are the people who were benefitted by her acts of kindness. Her death caused a wide spread sadness here among those who knew her for so many years.
She was the mother of twelve children, only three of whom survive her. The living are Arthur Newton, of Frontenac; Joseph Newton, of Empire; and Mrs. H. M. O'Bryan of St. Paul. Her husband died here in 1877.
The remains of Mrs. Newton were brought here from Galena Monday and the funeral services were held at St. Francis Church Tuesday morning. The remains now rest in the Catholic cemetery.
The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of the entire community.
