    At a meeting of the Shelby County Agricultural Society. S. Hahn had resigned as president on account of illness. Elected as officers were: Edward Gird pres., James s. Read, vice pres., Dr. Fishback secretary, Jacob Vernon treasurer, E.G. mayhew librarian. Chosen as directors of the Society were; Col. Alexander Miller, J.S. Dunlap, J.M. WORLAND, Joseph Odell, Stephen Collins, Aaron House, Pleasant Prewitte, William N. Bennett, David T. Sleeth, Chancey Butler, Joseph Updegraff (of Hendricks Twp.) George W. Davis and Stephen Rogers.

    A letter to the editor concerning the coming fair listed Stephen Collins, J.M. WORLAND and James F. Reed as the executive committee with the power to manage the fair, which would be on the 21st and 22nd.

    At a meeting of the Shelby County Agricultural Soceity Saturday January 7th, the president and vice president being absent JJOHN M. WORLAND was unanumously elected president pro tem and Hgh Dobbins read the minutes of the previous meeting. Joseph Monroe was mentioned in connection with the competition for the premium on the wheat crop. New officers nominated were; JOHN M. WORLAND, president, George W. McConnell, vice president, T.A. McFarland, secretary and librarian and John s. Campbell, treasurer. Inquiry was to be made by the president for a suitable piece of ground to be purchased by the Society for a permanent fair ground.
