Researching many families of Warren, Halifax, Granville, Franklin, Nash and Wake Counties that were living there in the 1800's, both before and after. Remember, please check any of the names I have to verify that they are yours before including them in your family files, and as usual please do me the courtesy of including me as one of your Sources if you use my data. Subject: MILLS SURNAME IN WARREN CO.

My grandmother Anzella (Mills) Turner Hobbs Claud (she was married three times) who died on July 6, 1979 in Capron, VA was born on March 15, 1900 in Littleton, NC. Her parents Babe and Leatha Mills moved to Southampton County, Virginia in the early 1900's leaving most of the other Mills family members back in Warren County, NC. Some of my grandmother Anzella's siblings were Beythe "Deda" Mills, Major Mills (drowned in Southampton County, VA at the age of 20), Julia Mills, Ananise "Anthony/Tony" Mills and "Boots" Mills. I believe she might have had another sibling named Rhoda Mills. I can remember traveling back to Littleton, NC to visit her aunt Anna Mills back in the 1950's and 1960's. My grandmother Anzella Mills also mentioned an Uncle Barry Mills back in Warren County, NC...

    Note by Deloris Williams:
I don't believe that there was a daughter named RHODA since no evidence of it has appeared. It's more likely that one of the daughters may have been called that as part of their name, most especially because it wasn't unusual to have names only used in the family.
