ASHBAUGH Walter S.

Walter S. Ashbaugh of Toledo, and formerly of Bowling Green, Ohio, died April 3, 2003, in his home after a long illness. Mr. Ashbaugh was born March 11, 1929, in East Liverpool, Ohio, to Laura and C. Walter Ashbaugh. He graduated from Cornell University of Ithaca, NY, where he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. He was a member of the 1952 Olympic Track and Field Team, and was active for many years in the National Association of Accountants. Mr. Ashbaugh married Connie Kramer in 1981 and retired from the DeVilbiss Co. in 1992.
He is survived and will be missed by his loving wife; daughters, Elizabeth Sommer (Steve) of Worthington, Ohio, and Patricia DeLano (Richard) of Gahanna, Ohio; step-children, Laura Kleparek (Tim) and Jim Schmidlin (Sonia) of Toledo; three grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; sister, Gretchen Leathers (John) of State College, PA; his aunt, Cristel Simmonds of Plymouth Meeting, PA and nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held Monday, April 7, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Maumee, Ohio. Memorials may be made to the Medical College of Ohio or St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Arrangements by Bersticker Scott-Funeral Home.
