  • Note: Tradition has it that James had his own ship and used it during the Revolutionary War to supply patriot troops. He was captured by the British during one of these ventures enroute to George Washington's camp in Newburgh, NY and was later released in a prisoner exchange.

      Note that while the MM record may suggest Lydia was Hannah's mother, it was not uncommon for Quaker records to refer to the "living (current) wife", per Ron Lahti.
