    Paul was the grantor of deeds for a bond recorded 20 Jan 1663, 25 Nov 1678, and 3 Oct 1683. S asine dated 20 Mar 1663 of Paul Dog, son of David Dog of Ballengrew in 3 merks of lands of Ba llengrew. [Particular Regiter of Sasines of Stirlingshire, Vol. 1.] Sasine dated 28 Aug 166 5 of Paul Dog, lawful son of David Dog of Ballengrew lands of Cessintullie; David Graham of M icklewood baillie. [Particular Regiter of Sasines of Stirlingshire, Vol. 2.] He was grantee o n a bond on 3 Dec 1680. A deed was recorded in 1687, which was after his death [Maybe by hi s son Paul]. His creditors filed papers in 1688, and his representatives in 1692.

    On the 12th of March 1685 the Lords of the Privy Council commissioned the Marquss of Atholl t o levy a force of Highlanders to march into Argyllshire to force peace in the King's name. I n May of 1685 Paul was with the Perthshire troop of horse commanded by Lord William Murray, u nder Lochiel. They were camped near Inveraray when one evening the Camerons mistook them fo r Argyll's men, and they attacked. Five gentlemen were killed, Paull Dog of Ballingrue, Pear son of Kippenrosse, Linton of Pittindreich, Napeir of Baluhapple, and a fifth unnamed. (MHP ) Paul's testament was recorded in the Dunblane Commissariat 13 Sept 1688 and 24 Oct 1700.

    Paul made no will of his own, so this was a testament dative detailing his goods, debts, etc.

    In the first testament, we are told that Paul Doig of Ballengrew died in June 1685, and tha t his testament dative was given up by Margaret Drummond his relict spouse executrix dative a nd creditrix decerned and surrogate to him in place of the procurator fiscall. So she is exe cutrix as Paul Doig owed her money, to witt a just third of the whole household plenishings r eckoned at about £40, and provided by the said defunct in the Contract of marriage past betwi xt them 30 December 1679. Also for the sum of 200 merks money disburst by her for mourning o n the death of her husband. There is a detailed agricultural inventory then itemised amounti ng in worth to £180 3/4d. The debts owing to the dead in which there are no debts of other D oigs, are £165 5 shillings. So the Inventory and debts together amounted to £345 7 4d. The re was no division. Mr. Ninian Drummond of Glesingall was cautioner. This was confirmed o n 13 September 1688.

    The Eik, confirmed on 24th October 1700, was given up by David Dog of Ballengrew, who must no w have been of age that is 21 to be the executor. More debts were owed to the deceased, by D avid Drummond of Innermay by bond £86, by Muschett of Calyehall by bond £800, Item more by th e said David Muschett as principall and Captain David Muschett of Boghall as Cautioner conjun ctly and severally by bond £800 of principle. Item by the said principall and cautioner of b ygone annual rents of the saids two, last principall soumes £1524. Sum of debts £3,110 the t hird part whereof is £1,036 13/4d
    Confirmation was in the common form. Cautioner David Lyd. Confirmed 29 October 1700.
