Thomas went to England to study in 1680, fell under the influence of Richa rd Baxter, got involved in Lord Monmouth's Rebellion and was at the Batt le of Sedgemoor 5 Jul 1685. HE immediately left, disguised, from Bristo l. Arrived in Annapolis 1685. There is a book about him written in Engla nd in 1800's called "Tom Balch, or a History of Somerset in the Rebellion ".
