Roland ?Bill? Naatz, 78, a longtime Janesville resident, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at Evansville Manor, where he had resided for the past 9 ½ years. Bill was born in Janesville on April 30, 1930, a son of Fred and Cora (Goodrich) Naatz. He grew up in Janesville and graduated from Janesville High School. He married Wilma DeGarmo on Mar. 6, 1954. She died on Jan. 4, 2004. He was formerly employed as a cab driver by Vet?s Cab Company, and later by City Cab Company. Bill was a member of Cargill United Methodist Church and enjoyed watching sports, especially the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and Milwaukee Brewers, as well as going to Hooters on his birthdays.
Survivors include one son, Bob (Sharon Paulson) Naatz of Edgerton; one daughter, Deb (Doug) Brookins of Janesville; a stepgrandson, Lucas Brookins; and his mother-in-law, Vera DeGarmo. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Bob Naatz.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville, with Rev. Mark Gilbert officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Thursday until the time of services.
