ANOTHER PIONEER LADY PASSES AWAY
Mrs. Amelia H. Wolfsen, a most highly respected pioneer resident of Merced county, passed away at the home of her son, P. J. Wolfsen, near this city at 6 o'clock Thursday morning, death being due to the infirmities of old age.
Mrs. Wolfsen was a native of England and was born February 13, 1845. When but four years old she came to America with her parents, residing in several Eastern States until fifty eight years ago, when they came to California, making the journey across the plains by ox-team. In 1865 she was married in Amador county to H. C.Wolfsen, and a few years later the
couple came to Merced county to reside, Mr. Wolfsen, who died in 1901, was for many years one of Merced county's most prominent and successful farmers.
Mrs. Wolfsen was a true Christian woman, a devoted wife and mother and kind neighbor and was respected and esteemed by all who knew her.
She is survived by six sons and one daughter, as follows: P. J., Frank and J. H. Wolfsen of Merced; Dr. L. H. Wolfsen of Chicago; Charles Wolfsen of Oak Harbor, Washington; Harvey Wolfsen of Colfax, and Mrs. Sadie Stevens of Le Grand. All of the children, excepting Charles
Wolfsen, were here at the time of the death.
Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock this afternoon from the home of P. J. Wolfsen and interment will be mad e in the I. O. O. F. cemetery.
