1880 census (Wakeman, Huron County, OH), just a few households away from James and his brother John was a John QUINN, age 55, born in Ireland; occupation: Catholic priest. More information on John Quinn: This information was found in the Catholic Church Archival Collections: Between 1856 and 1859 the priest from St. Peter Catholic Church, Father Narcissus Ponchel, served both St. Mary and St. Peter Catholic Churches. Father Ponchel served St. Mary church solely from 1859 until his death in September, 1860. For several months the parish was served by a priest from Cleveland. St. Mary Catholic Church received their second resident priest, Father JOHN QUINN, in December 1860.

Wakeman Independent Press on September 9, 1911: [Provided by the Wakeman Library] "At his home in Wakeman, Ohio, Friday, Sept. 1st, 1911, James Murray, aged 72 years, 2 months and 12 days. Mr. Murray was born in Ireland June 18th, 1839, and came to America in 1871. He was married April 28th 1862 to Miss Catherine Guthrie. To this union were born nine children, seven of whom, with the mother, survive him. John B. of Wellington; James L. of Wakeman; Mattie at home; Mrs. T. H. Burke of Bellevue; Mrs. P. T. Rooney of Kipton, and Anna and Elnora at home. The funeral was very largely attended from St. Mary's Church. In Wakeman, Monday, and burial in the Catholic cemetery in Wakeman. Rev. John Kelly sang Solemn High Mass assisted by Rev. Edward Burke, of Elyria, and Rev. John Ruffing, of Bellevue. Mr. Murray was a man noted for his honesty and uprightness, highly esteemed by all who knew him, and this community was made better for his having lived in it."

All children were born in Ohio.
Michael Murray is also found in the 1910 Ohio census: age 85; birthplace: Ireland; wife: Hanorah age 70; birthplace Ireland; son Edward J. age 35; birthplace Ohio.
Author's Note: "Mr. Murray was a man noted for his honesty and uprightness, highly esteemed by all who knew him, and this community was made better for his having lived in it." With that statement made so many years ago, it seems a shame that we now are put in the position of defending the correct lineage of this family. It is in stark contrast, isn't it. We are aware of another researcher who has this family listed inaccurately. Grandson, George Murray, had four grandchildren; two female by youngest son and two male by the middle son. The marriage of Murray / King did not produce children as another researcher has posted. The two male children they have posted under living Murray / King marriage are from living King's first marriage to Mr. Criss.
