    email from Deborah Brown Nelson dlbn5 (at) bellsouth.net
    asking for more info on this Jackie Brown died 1857 Spartanburg Dist SC;
    =============
    deborah gives this evidence about John Jaqckie Brown born ca 1779:

    The information you have is correct and I have visited the gravesites of John
    Brown, Elizabeth Brown, Barthena Brown and Jane Brown the 3 wives of John.
    John's parent's names remain illusive. There is a Spartanburg Deed dated Jan
    8, 1823 where a John Brown (Burk County, NC) to William Petit on north side of
    Pacolet River, border Joshua Petit, David Allen & Smith part of grant to
    William Poole. Therefore thinking John may have lived in Burk County NC
    formerly Rowan County (Burk County formed from Rowan County in 1777). John's
    son Elijah P married in Lincoln County NC a neighboring county of Burk County
    in 1827. Thank you so much for the information and any additional information
    you my have on John's parents would be GREATLY appreciated. Deborah B. Nelson;

    Thanks for asking an answerable question! I post more than 200,000 old-timers'
    records at http://wc.rootsweb.com and so
    receive mostly questions less answerable than yours. And so glad to be asked
    about 1700's, instead of more recent times that casual surfers ask about.
