Hawkins County, Tennessee Deed Book 11, 19 of May 1818, John Bryant to John Slatten registered the 18th of February 1824--This indenture made this 19th of May 1818 between John Bryant of White County, Tennessee of the one part and John Slatten of Hawkins County, Tennessee of the other part. Witnesseth that John Bryant for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand dollars in hand [skip] doth grant unto said John Slatten [skip] one tract or parcel of land in County of Hawkins on the North side of Clinch Mountain on the waters of Big Water Creek, beginning at a double birch between said John Bryant and Asahel Johnston running to a poplar on the South side of Cooper Ridge from thence to a dogwood corner of the land Thomas Johnston bought from Joseph Bryant thence along said line to an elm, thence along a conditional line to a rock outer point of a ridge, thence to the beginning [skip]
