BIRTH date (30-1-1772) and DEATH information was obtained from Family Group Sheet for his parents, compiled by D/M Erkfritz, 7905 Eston So., Clarkston, MI 48348.

Information obtained from Family Group Sheet submitted by Mrs. Norman Westover, Brome County Historical Society/ Standbridge Church Rec'd/ James Holmes. Compiler: Ira Benham, Rt. 4 Park Rapids, MN 56470

Will of Moses Westover, names his sons (including Silas) and leaves them each twenty-five Spanish dollars.

Letter - from Jim Holmes: I have recorded a deed involving Silas Westover at Shefford (Berkshire Co. Mass), 11 Oct 1797 but not recorded until 1834. I have a likely daughter, Clarissa, md. John Keith at Frelighsburg, Que. Anglican Church, 27 Feb 1815.

Quebec Provincial Archives, Manuscripts room, Lands Division, A Grants, folio 23 "The first one (Westover) to appear in official documents is Silas Westover, who with 32 other Loyalists, received 5/7 in all of the township of Brome, namely 33 equal parts, 18 Aug 1797

Canadian Genealogy Index, 1600's-1900's Record - Silas Westover, living 1797, Quebec, Brome, Land Grants: Quebec 1800's Archives of Ontario, Ottawa.

Info - email from James Wesley Johnson - The poster-size chart I saw had a notation on it next to the name of Clarissa, putative daughter of Silas Westover (b. abt 1795) that she married 29 Feb 1815 John Keith in Stanbridge (but Eldridge's genealogy has 27 Feb 1815), with the note "her wedding record says Silas was Father."

Note: Anthony Eldridge says Silas had a sister Clarissa Westover who died in infancy, 28 Nov 1780 - 24 Aug 1781.

Marriage information obtained at Missisquoi Historical Society, Box 186, Stanbridge East, Quebec, JOJ2HO. Mrs. Jean McCaw of Box 401 Sutton, Quebec, JOE 2KO. The genalogist for Sir John Johnson Branch. Also referenced Mrs. Edith Westover of Sutton, Quebec. Judy Antle, Archivist from the Missisquoi Historical Society in Stanbridge East Quebec, did find a marriage of a Clarissa Westover who married John Keith on 27 Feb 1815 in St. Armand East (Frelighsburg) Quebec and that it was witnessed by her father SILAS WESTOVER, but no mention of her mother. If Silas was born in 1772 he would be 43 at the time of this marriage. He also had several children before 1815.

Note from Robert E. Osgood - THANK YOU ON INFORMATION ON SILAS AND HIS TRUE FATHER MOSES. FOUND TO DAY THAT SILAS WIFE NAME IS CLARISSA LUCINDA FELL, BORN 1788 NEW FOUNDLAND,CANADA ,BUT THE ONLY PROOF IS BY SON ENOS MARRIED IN FRANKLIN,VERMONT STATING AS SILAS & CLARISSA AS HIS PARENTS.

NOTE HOWEVER: Joan Cruickshank states that her researcher from Florida who descends through Silas states she found a Silas and Lucinda Westover who witnessed a marriage that took place in Malahide, Elgin Co., Ontario in 1821. The bride and groom were Joseph Harvey and Margaret Robinson - Source was Marriage Registers of Upper Canada-London District 1795-1841.
This researcher also found a copy of the death record of Nathaniel Westover, born Aug. 18,1811 in Quebec, married Asenith Ann Van Amberg or Van Emberg on Jun 14, 1835 in Bayham, Elgin Co., Ontario, died Mar 9, 1869 in Michigan. The death record stated that his parents were Silas Westover and Lucinda. Could this be a different Silas????

Residence in 1820 - Malahide Twp., Elgin County, Ontario - info provided by Ross W. Westover, River Ridge 8th Ward, 1548 W. Homecoming Ave, South Jordan, UT 84095 Also - Susan & Rodney Schultz, 7275 S. Promenade Dr, Salt Lake City, UT, 84121
Early London District Marriages - 5 Jan 1821. Joseph Harvey and Margaret Robinson of Malahide by John Backhouse, JP. at Malahide. Witnesses- SILAS Westover, LUCINDA Westover, John Bennett and M. Bennett.

Info from Joan Westover Cruickshank <dean.cruickshank@sympatico.ca> Silas is still a big mystery, although I believe that his wife was named Lucinda and not Clarissa.....lots of controversy about that.

Quebec Vital & Church Records (Drouin Collection) 1621-1967 St. Armand East (Baptist Church) 1853 - ?Register of the marriage between Silas Westover farmer of Stanbridge aged seventeen years and Miss Christiana Free of Stanbridge aged seventeen years by consent of their parents and guardian this seventh day of October 1851? or 1856? NOTE: This is NOT my Silas Westover!
