"Est admnr Jan. 14, 1846 by Wm. McCasland, Wm C. Scott, Wm. T. Drennan bound to David Lesly Ord. Abbeville Dist. sum $3,000.00. Wm McCaslan sheweth that Wm. Scott died having 2 sets of chn. 3 by his first wife, and 7 by his last wife
now being Masry Scott. That a dtr. Martha has lately died. Alexr., Clark, Amanda, Martha Jane Scott were chn. of Wm. Scott decd. Wm. T. Drennan married Mary Scott. Thos. Dixon married Nancy Y. Scott. On Feb 7, 1843 Wm. and Amanda

Letter to Mr. Wm. McClaslan
Abbeville Dist., S.C.

Verrennes 8th 1847

Mr McClaslan your letter came duly to hand with your sett. I took my family down as far as mothers on Tuesday and the next day I started to the courthouse and it was so cornday I did not get all the way and at the same time I had had the cold and cough for three weeks and now I have a pain or hurting on my
back below my shoulder blade which wrenched me quite unfit for work or any thing else except to set by the fire. I think you will have to excuse me for not going to the sett. I am willing to abide by whatever you will agree on some way of decision. I don't want my absence to prevent a sett. I expect Mr. Dickson to come to my house tonight and if I change my opinion I will let you know through him if he goes and if you see O. Conner tell him I expect to be down there in a month or two and I wish him to have the money for me. I have nothing more to write to you at this time but remain your friend.
