Note: According to a Richardson family article in the "Footprints in Marion County" Vol X IV spring 1990 #4, from John Burdick 842 Terrace 49, LA 90042, relating information from Carolyn Reinbold. List John Richardson information in point # 3. "MARY "POLLY" RICHARDSON, born ca 1792 in Maryland, died in 1844 in Marion Co, IL Married BENJAMIN F. CRAIN. 3 or 4 children we think". ( I have no idea where they got the "F" as it was not on the Bible pages emailed to me.)
See also "Footprints Summer 1988 and Winter 1985" for Richardson and related family updates.
From other sources: The Richardson family history list Mary as marrying Benjamin Crain in Robertson County, TN.
LDS files submitted by someone states "Benjamin Franklin Crain married Mary Richardson in TN about 1820."
There is an Issac B. Crain listed on the TN census of 1820, in Robinson County, TN. If this is proved as the Benjamin Crain that married Mary Richardson this will give us a direct contact back to Guiliford County, North Carolina where there were several Crain family's. Most of them moved to TN in early 1800's, one is listed as having fought in the Revolutionary War and another in the War of 1812. As of June 2002 I have not been able to prove that Issac B. Crain is the Benjamin Crain that married Mary "Polly" Richardson Crain.
Reserched at LDS Salt Lake in June, 2002 the following: 1820 and 1830 census of Marion County, IL for Benjamin and or Isaac . In fact there are not any Benjamin or Isaac listed in IL in the 1820 census and only one in the 1830 census and he is living in Perry County and he is also listed on the 1840 census still living in Perry County, there were not any Isaac listed.
Mary Crane is listed with the right age children in the 1840 census of Marion County. Also looked at the cenus for 1830 and 1840 in TN and could not find either a Benjamin or Isaac Crain/Crane. Checked state wide in IL, TN, MO, KY and neither Benjamin or Isaac or any known nickname for them so for some reason Benjamin (Isaac) just disapear. Since in 1844 Mary "Polly" has two sons under the age of 14 Benjamin must have been alive in 1830. Listed on the 1840 census with Mary were the following: BOY under age 5 (0) age 5-10 (1) William(?) age 10-15 (1) John(?) age 15-20 Benjamin Thomas (?) one woman age 30-40, (Mary acutal age was about 48). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- They do NOT appear to be related to this Benjamin Crain but is listed here as a note only: Joseph B. Crain was in the sixth Cavalry Company B was mustered out 11-5-1865 Thomas Crane and Francis M. Burge of the Sixth Cavalry deserted 7-19-1863(5) William H. Crane of Company D (belive of the Sixth Cav) was mustered out 11-5-1865. What if any relationship to Crain is unknown at this time. 11-7-2000. Information taken from Footprints.
