DEATH OF MR. A. CAMERON

Mr. Archibald Cameron, of L'Ange Gardien, died on Aug. 26, after an illness of only one week , at the ripe age of 90 years and three months. He was born in the County of Lancaster, on M ay 20, 1808, and removed to Buckingham Township over 65 years ago. During the early part o f his life he was engaged largely in the lumber business, but later settled on the farm. Fo r a number of years he was captain of militia in the Ottawa district. Mr. Cameron was a line al descendant of Sir Ewan Cameron, chief of the Cameron Clan, who was better known as Lochiel . His father, Donald, was born in Argyleshire, and came to Canada in 1802; settling in Lanca ster County. In July, 1838, just over 60 years ago, Mr. Archibald Cameron married Miss Nanc y McMillan, who at the age of 79 years survives him, though somewhat feeble. Besides his wid ow he leaves three sons, six daughters, 40 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. One so n, Duncan, is a resident of this city being an official member of St. James Methodist Church . Mr. Cameron was a man of integrity and sterling Christian character, and will be much miss ed by his family. He came of a military family, three of his uncles, Alexander, Duncan, an d John Cameron, being British army officers. John Cameron fought in the Irish rebellion, an d also in the war of 1812, in Canada, taking part in the battles of Chateauguay, Lundy's Lane , and Queenston Heights. Alex. Cameron fought in the battle of Waterloo, under Wellington, a nd Duncan in the Irish rebellion.
