THE LATE EDWARD CAMERON OLDEST ROSCOMMON MASON
The Herald is publishing a letter which was sent to Mrs. Edward Cameron of Trout Creek, fro m Roscommon Lodge No. 364 relative to her late husband Edward Cameron, wherein it is pointe d out that Mr. Cameron was the oldest member of the Roscommon Lodge both in age and in numbe r of years of attendance:

    Roscommon, Michigan
    December 9, 1942

    Mrs. Edward Cameron,
    Trout Creek, Michigan.

    Dear Mrs. Cameron:
Through an indirect source, we have learned of the recent death of your husband and our estee med brother, Edward Cameron. The officers and members of Roscommon Lodge wish to extend to y ou and your family their sincere sympathy in your sad bereavement. Brother Cameron had bee n a member of this lodge since 1887, and at the time of his death was our oldest member, bot h as to age and period of membership. He was granted life membership October 14, 1929. Owin g to the fact that his residence was so distant from the lodge, he had not been present wit h us for many years. However, he always retained his interest in the affairs of the lodge an d recently afforded us generous financial assistance when we were soliciting funds with whic h to paint our hall building. Thanks to him and the membership general, we were able to acco mplish our purpose and the painted building is a credit to us. I only wish our brother migh t have seen it for I am sure he would have been pleased. While our records show that Brothe r Cameron was 21 when he became a Mason, we do not have the date and place of his birth nor t he date of his death. I desire this information to complete his Masonic record and if you wi ll kindly supply these items on the sheet herewith and return the same to me in the enclose d stamped envelope, I will appreciate your kindness.
    Sincerely and sympathetically yours,
    William Houghton, Secretary
Brother Cameron's death marks the passing of five old members during the present year.
