  • Note: husband of my executors six hundred dollars to be put on
  • Note: interest to be held over for her and her children in like manner
  • Note: during the life time of Henry Ball and at his death to pay over
  • Note: the said sum to her if living and in case of her death to be
  • Note: continued at interest until her children arrive at the age of
  • Note: eighteen years. The said six hundred dollars to be equally
  • Note: divided among her children, but should she die without children
  • Note: the six hundred dollars to be divided among the above named. The
  • Note: following sum are the amount chareable to each legatee. To
  • Note: William Shely four hundred and eighty seven dollars fifty cents,

  • Note: appertenances there unto appertaining which I have bequeather to

  • Note: horses twopairs of gear and two ploughs a large and small one
  • Note: and he have the horse saddles and bridle and such things as I
  • Note: have already given him, and at and after my death I desire all
  • Note: my land in Virginia as well as the land adjoining the farm which
  • Note: I have bequeathed to my wife be sold. Names one track of land by
  • Note: deed of twelve hundred and sixteen acres. A Militia survey lying
  • Note: on the south branch of Elk River Nicholas County on other survey
  • Note: of one hundred and eighty five acres lying on main Elk River
  • Note: adjoining the shallows ford in the county aforesaid in the state
  • Note: of Virginia and at the death of my wife the balance of all my
  • Note: property real and personal sold and the money divided as above
  • Note: bequeather, and also the money due by bond to be divided in the
  • Note: same manner as above mentioned. Except an two hundred dollars
  • Note: which lastly of all I bequeath to my beloved wife.

  • Note: David Shely was a Revolutionary War soldier. He is referred to
  • Note: in old Lexington documents as "Captain Shely" He received a
  • Note: Military Bounty land Warrant #1170 on July 22 1780 from the
  • Note: Commonwealth of Virginia for 1216 acres which included a large
  • Note: "savanah" on the head of a branch of water of the Elk River
  • Note: joining Isaac McClure and Matthew James and Matt Arbuckle. He
  • Note: was surely an officer to have received such a large military
  • Note: bounty.
