Note: "BIO"..Neal was the son of George Washington Cohoon & Sarah (Metheny) Cohoon. On Aug. 22, 1898 he married Mary Elizabeth Miller and on Oct. 28, 1940 his second marriage was to Rosa Ellen Willis. His children were: Rachel Ellen, Alec Edward, Richard, Johnny, Elmer Evert, Ethel Mae, and Fred Cornelius Cohoon. He engaged in farming thought out his life and within the last years was noted for his fine strawberries. ~~~~~~ **The Vandalia Leader-Union newspaper is on micro film at the Evans Library in Vandalia, IL** Noah (Neal) Cornelius Cohoon, 87, resident of 629 South Locust St., Vandalia, died at 5:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 20, at Fayette County Hospital where he had been a patient one day. Son of the late George Cohoon and Sarah Matheny Cohoon. Neal, as he was affectionately known to many, was born Jan 16, 1878 at Casey. First marriage was with Mary Miller, now deceased. Second marriage was on Oct. 28, 1940 at St. Charles, MO., when his choice for a wife was Rosa Willis, who survives. Mr. Cohoon had been a lifelong resident of Fayette County and had retired as a farmer only a few years. His religious affiliation had been for some time with the Church of Christ whose house of worship is on North Fourth St., Vandalia. In addition to his wife, other surviving close relatives include a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Elder of Vandalia; son, Fred of Sullivan, IL; 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, and a half-brother, Harry Cohoon of Vandalia. Funeral services will held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 22, in Beery and Hohlt Funeral Home, with Rev. James Kehrster of Greenville, officiating. Burial in Fairlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday.~~
