They lived in Muskingum County. James was known as "Daddy Jim" to his children and grandchildren. He wore a gold earring in the lobe of his ear, claiming it was for good health, and attributing his long life to having done so. He had many beehives, claiming "to have millions of workers in the fields gathering honey." His granddaugh­ters tell of sitting in his lap when he would call the bees, and they all would be covered with bees. They were not stung, but it put the fear of God in the grandchildren!

Sarah Ann died 11 February 1895 in Madison Township and James died 13 July 1919 in Dresden, both in , Muskingum County, Ohio where they are buried at the Dresden Cemetery in Dresden. (16:44)
