    She was born 8 March 1764 in Cuchetunk, now Cochecton Township, Sullivan County, New York, per records of the Barbour Collection recorded in Sharon, Litchfield County, Connecticut. (11:12; 47:5)

    By 1764 the family had moved across the River and was living north of Damascus, Wayne County, Pennsylvania, where Schoolhouse or Bush Creek joins the Delaware River.

    On 22 March 1781 at the First Presbyterian Church in Goshen, Orange County, New York Mary Tyler married George Smith of Orange County, New York .(23:13; 47:5) Mary and George had several children:

    Per "History of Orange County, New York", 1888:
    "George, his grandfather, early resided in Goshen, but subsequently removed to Wallkill township, where his death occurred. He was married to Mary Tyler and became the father of a family of children, among whom was Ira, the father of George, who was born September, 1800, in Wallkill township, and remained with his parents during the early years of his life." (47:5; 74: )
