/////////////////Boddie, South Side Virginia Families Lucas of Surry Vol. II, page 308
William Lucas of Surry was probably related to Roger and Walter Lucas who appears in the records of Charles City County (Charles City Co. O. B. 1655-65, pp 117, 121; William and Mary Quarterly 1st Series, Vol. IV, p. 168)
William and Anne Lucas apparently had only one son William Lucas born 1654 (D and W 1671-84, p. 183).
William Lucas died soon after 1659, and there is some reason to think his wife Anne married (2) Robert Dennis of Surry. Robert Dennis died betwen 1670-71, and his widow Anne Dennis on 01 March 1671/2 deeded 50 acres of land of a large tract she had bought from John LeGrande to her son in law Abraham Evans having previously sold half of the total tract to William Lucas (the son) (Deed and Will 1671-84, p. 264).
William Lucas (the son) was witness to the to the deed from LeGrand to Ann Dennis. (Surry County Records, Book II, 1671-1684 Folio 13, dated 01 March 1671.
William Lucas on 01 Nov 1688 was deeded more of the land by Nathaniel Dennis son and heir of Robert Dennis. (D and W 1687-94, p. 92)
William Dennis appears in William Lucas's households in the tithables of 1687, and Nathaniel Dennis is shown with William Lucas in 1690.
Ann Dennis also deeded land to to her son in law John Harris about the same time she made the deed to Abraham Evans (D and W 1671-84, p. 87.)
If the identification of Anne Dennis and Ann Lucas is correct, William and Ann probably had two daughters in addition to William Lucas, Jr. one of whom married Abraham Evans and the other John Harris.
