    Will of Simon Boswell
    Wayne County, North Carolina
    06 November 1812

    In the name of God Amen, I Simon Boswell of the State of North Carolina and County of Wayne being of sound mind and memory and perfect disposed mind do make and ordain this insrument of writing to be and contain my last will and testament in manner and form following:

    I tend to my loved wife Ann Boswell all my land where I now live her lifetime or widowhood, also I tend her one horse by the name of Cowl and also two featherbeds and furniture and all the kitchen furniture also two milking cows also I give her as much corn and pork as will serve her for the first year also one sow and eight pigs

    Second I give my grandson Everett Bass ten dollars to him and his heirs forever

    Third I give my grandson Jonathan Bass ten dollars to him and his heirs forever

    Fourth I give to my granddaughter Sarah Bass ten dollars to her and her heirs forever

    Fifth I give my grandson Jesse Bass ten dollars to him and his heirs forever

    It is my desire that what money I leave to my grandchildren for it to be put in trust until they come of age

    Sixth I give my daughter Miriam Bass one milk cow and twenty dollars to her and her heirs forever

    I give after my death and my wife death all my land no others ways dispose of to be divided between my two sons that is to say Jesse Boswell, and Joseph Boswell

    It is my desire for my fatting hogs to be fattened out of the crop and for all my pork and corn no otherwise dispose of and all the rest of my property no otherwise disposed of to be sold and all my just debts to be paid and all the rest divided between all my children that is to say John Boswell, Thomas Boswell, Jesse Boswell, and Benjamin Boswell and Joseph Boswell, and Miriam Bass.

    It is my desire for what property I have left to my beloved wife after her death to be sold and be equally divided between all my children heretofore mentioned

    I also nominate and appoint John Boswell, and Joseph Boswell, and Benjamin Boswell, Executors to this my last will and testament

    Enter line before since as a witness hereunto I set my hand and seal this

    24th day of September 1812

    and published and pronounced by the testator to be and contain his last will and testament in the presence of us
