After Martha died, Larry married Sallie who died two years after Martha.

He was instrumental in the establishment of the Little Rock Free Will Baptist Church in Lucama, North Carolina.
Larry Lucas and Martha Bass sold to the Little Rock Free Will Baptist Church a quarter acre of land for $1.00 on December 19, 1872. The site was located near what was then known as Barnes Cross Roads.
In the census of 1880 of Wilson County, Larry Lucas is recorded as living in the Cross Roads Township.He is age 31 and his wife Martha is age 27.

In a will of Josephus Moore, July Court, 1895, Book 3, Page 148, Witnesses listed are P. L. Lucas and F. E. Williamson.
Larry Lucas is listed in the Wilson County census of 1900 as living in Cross Roads Township in house number 335. This house was located on the Little Rock Church Road just east of the present day Little Rock Free Will Baptist Church. The census is listed as follows:
