    Catherine Parr, b. 1512, D. Sept. 7, 1548, was the sixth wife of Henry VIII of England. Married to the aging Henry in 1543, she induced him to show more kindness to his daughters, Mary and Elizabeth. After Henry's death (1547), Catherine married Baron Seymour of Sudeley (D. 1549), brother of Edward Seymour, 1st duke of Somerset. She died in childbirth.
