Anna's maiden name was VAN VORST. She was the daughter of Jacobus VAN VORST and Anna BECK and was baptized on Oct. 22, 1732, at the First Dutch Reformed Church of Schenectady, N.Y. At the age of 18, on July 19, 1751, Anna married Nicolaas VAN DER BOGART, the son of Tjerk Fransen VAN DER BOGART and Margaret Gietje VEDDER, in Schenectady. Sometime between Dec. 11, 1757 and before the baptismal of his fourth child on July 16, 1758, Nicolaas died leaving Anna a young widow of only 26 yrs. of age. Anna was left with four very young children, ranging in age from newborn to 4 years old. Baptismals of the Van der Bogart children were: Tjerk, March 5, 1754; Frans, May 4, 1755; Rachel, Feb. 6, 1757; and Margarita, July 16, 1758. It is believed that Rachel Van der Bogart died young. Sometime prior to 1759/60, she married John Kemp. John Kemp raised the young Van der Bogart children and he and Anna subsequently had five children. Anna was buried 15 Jul 1789 in Fredericksburgh Tp., Ontario, Addington County, at about 57 years of age. Anna's father, Jacobus Van Vorst, left instructions in his will, written in 1790, for Tjerk Van der Bogart (one of Anna's sons from her first marriage) to care for Rachel Kemp (a daughter by John Kemp). Her father's will read: "Then I give & bequeath to my said daughters Elizabeth Quackenbos & Angelica Welch & in trust to Cherick Van de Bogart for keeping & maintaining Rachel Camp daughter of John Camp all the Stock & Cows to be divided equally among them & to their heirs & assigns for ever".
