    Mr. [John F.] Brown was born October 29, 1858 at Ash Grove, Missouri, coming here (Kendrick, Idaho) to make his home in 1890. He had served in various civic capacities in the community, serving as a member of the city council at different times a nd he was one of those who were directly responsible for the creation of our beautiful little city park after the debris of the big fire had been cleared away. Mr. Brown served as postmaster of Kendrick (ID) for nine years, during the Wilson admi nistration, his tenure of office extending one year beyond. He had been engaged in various enterprises and for the past seven years had been in the garage business in te west part of the business section. He had always been active in politics an d in former years took a great interest in all civic affairs. . . .

    RESIDENT, DIES AT HOME

    John Fulton Brown, a resident of Kendrick since 1890, passed away at his home, Tuesday afternoon, June 13, after a lingering illness.
    Mr. Brown was born October 29, 1858, at Ash Grove, Missouri, coming here to make his home in 1890. He had served in various civic capacities in the community, serving as a member of the city council at different times and he was one of those wh o were directly responsible for the creation of our beautiful little park after the debris of the big fire had been cleared away.
    Mr. Brown served as postmaster of Kendrick for nine years, during the Wilson administration, his tenure of office extending one year beyond. He had been engaged in various enterprises and for the past seven years had been in the garage business i n the west part of the business section. He had always been active in politics and in former years took a great interest in all civic affairs.
    He is survived by his widow, Martha Ann [Woodward] Brown, and six children: Mrs. Marie A. Jones, Banks, Oregon; Mrs Myrtle Olive Cole, Dunsmuir, Calif.; W. D. and Carl Brown; Eureka, Calif., and Emulus R., Kendrick; also 17 grandchildren, five gre at-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; two brothers, Kelley Brown, Van Nuys, Calif., and Henry Brown, residing in Missouri.
    Funeral services will be held on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the Community Methodist church, with Rev. Bell of Moscow conducting the services. Funeral arrangements will be in charge of Short's Funeral parlors. Pallbearers will be Clare nce Fry, A. G. Wilson, John L. Woody, John F. Waide, N. E. Ware and Dan Whybark, with burial in the local cemetery.


    Note: There was a "John F. Brown who registered for the draft in 1917, birth date 18 Jul 1886, birthplace Springfield, Missouri. Could this be a son that is unknown to my famly? [ccs]
