    Richard and his wife Rebecca settled in Charlestown in 1639. They united with the First Church in Charlestown, May 24, 1640. From Charlestown they removed to Boston, and later to Cambridge, where he was a Constable in 1651, and where he was Tithingman in 1655 and 1660. In 1662, he was 52 years of age, and he served as a juror in witchcraft trials in 1680. Until his second marriage he resided south of the Charles River, after which he resided in the body of the town of Cambridge, perhaps on the Crackbone place. He executed deeds on March 14, 1678/79 to his son Samuel Robbins, of 36 acres and to his son Nathaniel Robbins, of 34 acres. On January 7, 1681, he executed another deed to his daughter Rebecca and to her husband, John Woodward, of 30 acres.

    ANCESTRY OF RICHARD ROBBINS, (1610-1683):
    Compiled by the Reverend Howard Chandler Robbins, D.D., of New York City.

    First Generation:

    1. JOHN ROBYNS, whose will was proved in the Great Orphan Book of Bristol, Gloucestershire, England, May 1st, 1420, was the first ancestor of whom we documentary proof. He married Joan Marty, daughter of Richard Marty, as appears from hnis will.
    Here follows an abstract of the will: 'The will of John Robyns, burgess . . . to be buried inthe cemetery of St. Stephen of Bristol . . . . legaciesto the rector of the church there, the mother church of Worcester, the poor, and each order of friars at Bristol . . . . To Joan, his wife, his dwelling house, and the third part of all his goods . . . the second part to be for his children, Ric'd Joh'e Joh'e and Alicie, in equal portions . . . The wife and Richard Fynch and wife Katherine, executors . . . Proved before the ecclesiastical authorities, June 8, 1420.'

    Their eldest child was:

    2. RICHARD ROBYNS, who married Margaret de la Clyve, daughter of Walter de la Clyve. In 1428, there was a grant from Walter de la Clyve and Matilda, his wife, to Richard Robyns, of a messuage, and a tenement in Trewordale. They had:

    3. JOHN ROBYNS, of Trewordale, who married Alice . . . in 1453.

    Their eldest child was;

    4. JOHN ROBYNS, who married Johanna . . . He was buried in 1540 and Johanna, his widow, in 1560. There eldest chils was:

    5. EDMUND ROBYNS, born in 1495, married i;n 1530, Abigail Wharton daughter of Henry Wharton. Their eldest child was:

    6. EDMUND ROBINS, (also spelled Robbins), born in 1532, married first, November 25, 1582, Johanna Pitway, and second, June 2, 1584 Margaret Mosier. (Shipston on Stone, Worcester Registry, Piway Ms. C611.) Edmund Robbins occurs ;in a Borough Account, 1583, 'To Mr. Edmund Robbins to draw a deed to settle pte: of the Towne and Expenses in all 10s.' Edmund Robins paid 10s. in 1588, for lands ;in the parish. Edmund Robbins 'one more' became a capital burgess, 1620.

    His eldest son was:

    7. JOHN ROBBINS, born March 3, 1583 married June 7, 1607, Anne Pitt, a daughter of William Pitt (Stoulton Register). He came to London from Stoulton in 1623, and settled in St. Martin le Orgar parish. They had:

    8. RICHARD ROBBINS, (Robins from here on in these records) was the immigrant ancestor who came to Charlestown, Massachucetts in 1639.
