    James Rainey, uncle of Horace Dickenson Rainey, raised his family in the Red House Community near Semora, Caswell County, North Carolina. He also took in the young sons of his brother, Thomas Rainey, when Thomas died in 1812. These sons/nephews were James Glenn Rainey and Horace Dickenson Rainey. Their older brother Virgil M. Rainey (also a son of Thomas Rainey) already was of age and soon was to participate in the War of 1812.

    Death date also seen as 29 December 1899.
