Elizabeth Ann Staples (Bettie Ann) Keen died 05 Sep 1854. Her date of death is recorded in the Index to the Register of Deaths, Pittsylvania Co., VA. It names her husband and her father. She and Bartlett are buried in the Keen family cemetery with her parents on Silver Creek Rd. in Pittsylvania Co., VA. Bettie Ann died about a month after giving birth to twins. She was about age 37. In the 1860 census 3 of her children are living with her sister Nancy Harriet Keen who married Bartlett's brother Decatur Jones. Elisha Keen Jones was only 5 years old when his mother died. His uncle Elisha Ford Keen raised him at his home Cottage Hill, and subsequently gave Cottage Hill to him.
