    The Heritage of Caswell County, North Carolina, Jeannine D. Whitlow, Editor (1985) at 353 (Article #439, "James Lea (Shoo-Boot)" by Katharine Kerr Kendall):

    "John Lea (Canebrake) and James Lea (Shoo-Boot) had brothers Benjamin Lea who married February 9, 1796, Nancy Kerr (1774-1854) and Jeremiah Lea (died 1821) who married December 20, 1797, Mary Kerr. The two Kerr brides were sisters. John and James had sisters Nancy Lea who married November 21, 1780 William Zachary; Sallie Lea who married October 15, 1801 Thomas Lea; Elizabeth Lea married March 3, 1789 Elisha Evans; and Frances was unmarried unless she married another Lea."
