Clerk of the Superior Court (Person County, North Carolina), who was hit by a car in front of his Roxboro, North Carolina home and died from the injuries. Gentry also served as the new Bethel Hill High School's first principal, holding that position until 1923. He had been principal at the local Terrell School. The automobile that killed him was driven by a former student.
