  • ID: I1555
  • Name: Robert Davidson
  • Sex: M
  • Reference Number: 1555
  • Birth: ABT 1717 in Dundee, Scotland
  • Death: BEF 1748
  • Note:
Either Robert Davidson or his brother George Davidson was the father of General William Lee Davidson (nephew of General John Johnson). The Davidsons originally were from Center Church Gen. William Lee Davidson was killed during the Revolutionary War in 1781 at Cowan's Ford of Catawba River. In his honor are named Davidson College of North Carolina and Davidson Counties of North Carolina and Tennessee. A monument also stants to him on the Revolutionary battle ground at Guilford Court House. See Sondley at 369 for a further description of Center Church and the Davidson family.

Note: There is some doubt whether Robert is a brother of John and George. See http://www.lpickard.com/david.htm. Robert is not mentioned in the will of the person who purportedly is his father, William Davidson (1680-1723).
